Stay at a Moderate Resort for LESS than the cost of a Value Resort

I was speaking to someone recently, and this person was telling me that the majority of the time they have gone to Walt Disney World, they have stayed at the Moderate Resorts. And his reasoning would shock you. The reason they stay at the Moderate vs the Value Resorts is because it has been cheaper for them to do so.

It was at this moment, when I saw others around us standing there with their mouths open, that I realized that not everyone knows that this is even a possibility. When you are on a tight budget, especially a Disney Vacation budget, Value Resorts are the usual Resorts that many look into booking. Now don’t get me wrong…I LOVE the Value Resorts. We actually stayed at Pop Century during our last vacation. But, I would have no problem staying at any other Resort on property…especially if the price is right.

So, how do you get to stay at a Moderate Resort for less than the cost of a Value Resort?

This is where reading the fine print on all of those amazing Promotions pays off. For example, Disney recently released the dates for their Play, Stay, Dine Package Offer. Guests are invited to enjoy the parks, the hotels, and a Quick Service meal plan, while saving money on their vacation. The more expensive the hotel is, the larger discount you receive. Of course, there are also exclusions that apply. As long as you adhere to the terms of the offer, you will receive your discount.

After a quick search, I was able to find that a 5 night/6 day package for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children). The same exact package was, indeed, cheaper if this family was to book at the Moderate Resort over the Value Resort. In fact, it is a savings of $516.64!

The only difference in these two prices is the hotel in which this hypothetical family would be staying at. The park tickets and the Quick Service Meal Plan are exactly the same!

That is what I call a win!
