Companies love to hear how much you love their products. A lot of times, they don’t hear from consumers unless there is a problem, so writing positive letters to tell them that you love their products is a nice change. Sometimes they are so grateful that they will send you free samples or coupons for being loyal to their brand. Who doesn’t like to open their mailbox to find some unexpected goodies?
I wouldn’t exactly say I am an “Extreme Couponer”. I do not want my house to look like it needs to be submitted for an episode of Hoarders. However, I am an avid coupon user and I never buy anything full price. So, getting coupons is how I am able to feed my family on a small-ish budget. I always aim for at least a 50% savings combining loyalty cards and coupons.
Not all companies will give out samples or coupons, so I never expect anything in return. But, what is the harm in asking? The worst thing they can say is “no”. But, I have found that there are a lot of companies are willing to send you coupons to keep their customers happy.

Remember to be polite. You know the old saying, “You can catch more bees with honey than with vinegar.” You will also want to be specific about which product you like. Just telling someone that you like their products will sound like you’re just writing to get them to send your something for free (even though that’s what you are doing). Being specific shows the companies that you have taken the time to get to know them. Don’t worry about being cheezy. They would much rather read a cheezy letter than a complaint, any day.
Have you had luck writing companies to receive goodies?
