Jedi Training Academy – How To Sign Your Child Up
May 4, 2018
Do you have a child that loves Star Wars? Did you know that you can sign them up for Jedi Training Academy at Hollywood Studios? My kids aren’t very keen on being the center of attention, so this is something we skip, but we do like watching the other kids go through their Jedi Training. It is so cute!
How Can My Child Do Jedi Training?
The first thing you have to do is get to the parks EARLY! These slots fill up FAST, so as the saying goes, “you snooze, you lose.” I recommend getting to Hollywood Studios at least 1 hour before the scheduled opening time. Disney allows guests with Dining Reservations and those who want to sign up their child for Jedi Training to enter the park early, so you will want to make sure you’re ready to go once you are allowed to enter. From what I hear, there is a Cast Member that will hold up a sign specifically for those who wish to join Jedi Training.
Signing your child up
- You must be between 4 and 12 years of age to participate.
- Look for the Cast Member at the Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost located between the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! and the 50’s Prime Time Café.
- Registration begins when Disney’s Hollywood Studios opens for the day.
- Your child(ren) must be present at the time of registration. This is so Cast Members can be sure that your child is old enough and understands what will be required of them during the show.
- Availability is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
You will need to bring your child(ren) back to the Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost 30 minutes before the start of the show. This would be a great time for parents and other family members to scout out a good place to stand during the show because this area tends to get busy! One parent will have to stay with the child until they go up on the stage. This is also when a Cast Member will be handing out Photopass Cards to parents. MAKE SURE YOU GET A CARD! Pictures will not be attached to your MagicBands, so this is the only way you will get pictures of your child that was taken by a PhotoPass Photographer. It also makes the children feel better to know that someone they know is close by.
You child will get a robe and a Light Saber to use during show. How official… 🙂
There are 2 stages, and upper stage and a lower stage. If you child wants to “fight” Darth Vader”, then you will want to make sure that your child stands on the dots closer to the Gift Shop. If your child stands on the dots farther away, they will have to “fight” Seventh Sister”. You will want to keep this in mind if your child is set on coming face-to-face with Darth Vader himself.
You Did It!
When the 20 Minute show is done, your child will be rewarded for his/her bravery. I have heard of kids getting a pin or a certificate as they are heading back to their parents. As my children have never wanted to do Jedi Training, I am not sure which one Disney is doing at the moment. Either way, it is sure to be special.
If you have a Star Wars Fan at home, this is something you will not want to miss!
