Sometimes seen written as MDE, Disney’s Magical Express is that complimentary bus ride from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Walt Disney World Property.
I often get questions regarding Magical Express, so I thought it would be a good idea to help everyone out by putting all the information in one place.
Here are the most commonly asked questions
Are there any hidden fees associated with using Magical Express?
No! Using Magical Express is completely 100% FREE for all Guests staying in one of the Walt Disney World Resorts. It is one of the perks of staying on property. There is no need to rent a car, pay for Uber, and you get out of paying for the new Parking Fees now being enforced at Walt Disney World.
Does Disneyland in California also have Magical Express?
Unfortunately, Disneyland does not offer this service. Disney’s Magical Express is only offered in Florida and only available if you fly into Orlando International Airport (MCO).
What if my plane gets in late?
No worries. Buses are continually running, so there is no fear about missing your bus. Go potty, shop in the stores, or wait for loved ones coming in from other cities. The buses will be there for you when you need it.
What do I do with my luggage if I want to go right to the Parks?
If you want to go right to the Parks or you simply don’t want to carry your luggage around, Magical Express offers free Luggage Service. Just make sure that you attach the yellow tags to your luggage before you check your luggage (more on that below). You will not have to do anything else. Disney will handle all transportation and personally deliver it to your Hotel Room for you. It does take a few hours for your luggage to make it to your room, so make sure to use a carry-on for anything you will need immediately after landing in Orlando (including Magic Bands!)
Luggage Service is completely optional, so if you prefer to pick up your own luggage at the airport, simply leave the yellow tags at home. Magical Express has plenty of storage under the motor coach to store your luggage.
Note: Luggage Service is available if you arrive at the airport between 5AM and 10PM. If you arrive outside of those times, you will have to go to Baggage Claim to get your bags. If you’re arriving at night, even if you arrive before 10PM, it might be easier to just pick up your own luggage. It can take a few hours for luggage to be delivered so at least this way you can have your jammies and toothbrush for bedtime. No one wants to be tired for Rope Drop!
How long will it take to get to my Resort?
A general rule of thumb is to leave plenty of time between landing and any plans you make for that day, including Dining Reservations. Little things like walking from your plane to the other side of the airport (It takes a Tram, an elevator or stairs, and a long walk down the hall before you even reach the Motor Coaches), sitting on the bus while other Guests are loading their luggage and finding seats, and additional stops on the bus route all add up. Before you know it, it’s been 2 hours and you’re just arriving to your Resort.
How do I make my Reservation?
If you hired a Disney Travel Agent, then this is a step you don’t have to worry about. As one of those Agents, I make sure that all my Guests who want a reservation have one before they leave for Vacation.

It is best to reserve at least 30 days prior to your departure. You will receive an envelope in the mail that contains all the information you need, including your luggage tags (USA and Canada) and a Map of how to navigate the Orlando International Airport.
If you reserve Magical Express less than 30 days before your trip, you will still be able to take that magical ride, but the information will be sent to you via email. Without your luggage tags, you can provide your baggage claim number at the desk and they will take care of the rest.
How do I find the Magical Express when I’m going home?
The day before you check-out, the front desk will give you your Transportation Information (they usually leave it outside your door). It will give your Departure Time and location of your Motor Coach. Make sure you have it on hand to show the bus Driver. You can not use your Magic Band this time around.
Your Departure Time is usually 3 hours before your flight leaves, so you will have plenty of time to make it through security. To make sure you don’t miss your bus, it is recommended that you arrive at the Bus Stop at least 15 minutes prior to the time listed on your paper.
If you want Disney to handle your luggage, you can drop it off ahead of time. Just look for the Luggage Drop off area. You will not see your luggage until you reach your final destination, so if you need anything, make sure it’s on your carry-on. Check-out is at 11AM, so sometimes you have some time to kill before it’s time to catch your bus. We use this time to grab some lunch and possibly take another quick trip back to Disney Springs, if we have time. This would not be possible if we had to drag our luggage around with us.
