Reusable Bags Are Introduced To All The Disney Parks

In 2018, Disney announced that there would be significant changes to reduce the amount of plastic waste that is being produced on Disney Properties. As a part of this change, Disney promised that by mid-2019, plastic straws, lids, and single use retail bags would be reduced.

I visited at Walt Disney World after the announcement was made and at the time, nothing had seemed to change.

But, now that it’s been a few months, it seems as though those changes are starting to take effect.

Reusable Bags Introduced To The Disney Parks

Just recently, more reusable bags have been released, featuring brand new designs, made from 80% recycled materials.

Four new designs have been released in Disneyland

  • Disneyland Park
  • Disney California Adventure
  • Downtown Disney and Resort Hotels
  • World of Disney

Seven new designs have been released in Walt Disney World

  • Magic Kingdom
  • Epcot
  • Animal Kingdom
  • Hollywood Studios
  • Owned-and-operated shops at Disney Springs
  • Resort Hotels, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, and other merchandise locations
  • World of Disney

Just like many other stores who sell reusable bags, these will be available for purchase.

  • Small Bags – $1
  • Medium Bags – $1.50
  • Large Bags – $2

These reusable bags will also be available for purchase on their own. Note: There is a limit of 10 bags per transaction.

Don’t want to purchase a reusable bag?

Disney has stated that the reusable bags are an option for Guests who are looking for an alternative to using plastic bags.

Complimentary plastic bags will still be available. They also state that their plastic bags are 100% recyclable.

Resort Delivery

One perk of staying at a Disney Resort is the ability to purchase something in the Park and having it sent back to your Resort, so you don’t have to carry it around all day.

This has been a lifesaver…and a back saver!

While it hasn’t been confirmed, my guess is that Disney will still use the plastic bags for these transactions, unless they find a way to attach the receipts without damaging the reusable bags.
